Is Evernote good for note-taking? medium
Multiple long-term users in recent reviews described Evernote as a once-loved and essential tool. However, severe recent issues like a restrictive paywall, data loss, and text input instability are cited as reasons the app is now 'unusable' for its core purpose. The app's description lists strong features like searchable notes, OCR, and cross-device sync, but recent user sentiment is overwhelmingly negative.

1★Terrible! Every time I open this app, I become increasingly disappointed. As they add in their "improvements", they've forgotten their essential task: storing documents. Hundreds of documents have gone missing from my files, and now attachments won't open either. Trying to contact support is useless, as they don't respond. If you can't solve it in their FAQ, you're just out of luck.

2★Free Version No Longer Useable. Evernote used to be the best note app. I relied on it for years. Then they limited the free version to 50 notes. Well, OK. I still kept using it even though that was annoying. But now they have these lonnng ads pop up every time I open it. Note-taking has to be a quickly accessible. That's the nature of notes vs full documents. Unfortunately I have to leave Evernote now. The lonnng ads simply make the free version unusable. I'm going to try Google Keep now.

2★Unstable and temperamental. I used to love this app however recently a few issues have made it unsuable. For starters, I can not even get through a sentence of text without cursor freezing, jumping to an unrelated line, or the keyboard becoming unresponsive. Why am I paying for a note-taking app that can't even get through a sentence... photos and documents constantly freeze or show up as corrupt photos are sometimes there and sometimes not. Text goes missing, on and on.

1★Transitioning a free (with paid upgrades) app to fully paid, locking access to my notes until I signed up for a paid plan is really bad. Luckily I only had a few notes I cared about, which I could copy/paste out during the free trial. No easy way to export! Cancelled the trial as soon as I was done and will be uninstalling. I had been using it since 2012.

1★Have used this app for many years and loved it. Only used it on my phone. Noticed a bit back couldn't add a note which I accepted. There were only a few notes I cared about. Now today I suddenly can't even get to my notes without paying for a subscription. No warning this was going to happen. I need the info and can't access it. This is BS! At very least I should be able access the notes that I've had forever without needing to pay to get my own information. Used to recommend but no longer.
