Tapas – Comics and Novels

It has good series, but is not friendly to binge readers. Most series you can read one episode per day for free. You can also buy ink to unlock more episodes. Episodes stay unlocked, but unlocking a full series is quite expensive, often ranging from 30-60$, depending on the number of episodes. At that price I would prefer to be buying physical copies. You can play games on other apps to get ink, so there's a work around, but the ones I've tried have been very time-consuming.

Updated: Tapas has gone down. They upped their ink per unlock and made it harder to earn free ink, and earned amounts are still the same compared to the upped prices. Wait Until Free keeps reopening chapters I'd already unlocked previously. For the 3 free ad unlocks, it barely works and often goes to an ad that won't load, and then takes away the rest of the chances. Original: Great stories and comics, and the app has lots of free ink opportunities and prize giveaways for users! Love this app!

The loading in the webtoons is horrible. I could be using wifi or my own internet, and I still have issues. I've been stuck on a new comic for 7 hours because after a certain chapter, it's not loading. All you see is nothing but a black background with the logo like some cheesy wallpaper. At least you can download comics and read them, right? No. It takes triple the amount of time to download a chapter. I can stream a show on my phone faster than I can read or download a chapter on this app

great comic selection. good interface. the interface with free ink offers is a little intuitive. the free ink expires too quickly. but my biggest complaint is that the wait until free episodes expire. I can't just go back and read a comic I enjoyed, I have to follow a long arbitrary cadence to go through it again, or to share it with a friend. ultimately, these make webtoon better overall, as a reader.

I don't like how 17 - 50 of the most recent chapters are only unlockable by paying ink. I feel it's too expensive per series ($8-$25). There is not one single comic I am interested in reading on Tapas that I can complete for free. On Webtoons, there are many many comics I can complete for free. Occasionally, it's the last 3 episodes that you have to pay for ($1). I rarely have to unlock a whole series with coins.
