onX Backcountry Trail Maps GPS

When it works, this app is great, but the app itself is very buggy. Whenever I would try to open a created track, the app would crash. Additionally half of my saved trails would not highlight on the app when selected, which is very important for navigating. I was able to resolve both these issues by uninstalling and reinstalling the app. But it's unsettling that these bugs manifested in the first place, considering I rely on this app for safety and navigation.

I switched from OnX Hunt that I used for years without a problem across the country, recording all my tracks. OnX Backcountry has yet to finish recording any of my hikes. I get halfway through a 6-7 mile hike and get an error notice saying track has stopped recording. I click Resume and all of the sudden everything crashes and the tracking stops. It's been two months and over 25 miles of hikes and I don't have a record of one of them because they all failed and dropped.

If you have an android you'll be missing about 50% of the features that are available on iPhone, including simply being able to measure point to point distance. My brother has iPhone and I was struggling to find all the features he had until we realized they were non existent. frustrating to say the least to pay for an elite membership but not get a full featured app.

This app has great features. I had really high hours for it. I used it on several hikes and each one had missing information. Part of the trail was closed or changed, a whole trail was permanently closed. I don't know how they get the trail information. Maybe they need more hikers giving them information. For that price point I need much greater accuracy.

The app is easy to use and works well for the most part. I can only give 2 stars though, because it is missing parts of the Superior Hiking Trail, so I am unable to create a route for a section hike. With these missing sections, the app is unusable for my purposes. I requested a refund for the premium subscription through Google and it was denied - what a waste of money!
